He was reading multisylabic words with aplomb. His kindergarten teacher won't know what to do with him! We read the first Ramona book (on your recommendation) and the boys really liked it, even though they spent much of it being appalled at Ramona's behavior :)

And yes, I love the great vocabulary they're getting from C&H, although my feelings were mixed tonight when Willem used "dismembered" properly in a sentence.Gypmarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13938773894831848124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67506141510119712.post-72728285687352038762011-08-07T02:09:21.199-07:002011-08-07T02:09:21.199-07:00yes, mac is also a calvin and hobbes fan. I think ...yes, mac is also a calvin and hobbes fan. I think it was great for his vocabulary and also gave him a really nice sarcastic edge (although having peter as a dad may have also contributed to that). Of all the child-role-models, he's one of my favorites. Also Ramona, have your boys read those books yet? Mac loved them almost as much as I did.alison owenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03189341499275783749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-67506141510119712.post-8876768753918609122011-08-06T22:31:51.899-07:002011-08-06T22:31:51.899-07:00Thank you, Amy! After almost four years at it I feel like I've been having a bloggy dry spell/identity crisis lately, so I appreciate the encouraging comment.

I can SO see your kids loving Calvin and Hobbes! (No matter that I've never met them. They've spent a ton of allowance money buying the collection one by one at Half Price Books. There's only one book left that they have yet to buy, although they read it as a library copy. They were so sad to find they'd made it all the way through the books and there would never be another new "Calvin and Hobbes" to read. (Then they started over.) Oh, and Grace called it "Calvin and Hobbies" for ages. I loved it.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02877143473755866383noreply@blogger.com
